The role of supervision is needed to improve, enhance and empower supervising teachers so that they can and are able to develop their competencies, so they are able to work with good performance. This study aims to obtain information related to: 1. The role of supervision to help improve the performance of supervising teachers at SMP Negeri L. Sidoharjo; 2. Obstacles that the supervising teacher has in carrying out supervision in improving the performance of the supervising teacher. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research with descriptive methods, the data collection technique used is through interviews, observation and documentation, the subject of the research is the supervising teacher. The results of this study are: 1. The supervision that is carried out plays a role in helping to improve the performance of supervising teachers at the school. 2. The obstacle experienced by the supervising teacher during the implementation of supervision was that the supervision was carried out by supervisors who did not have a background in counseling guidance, so that during the implementation of supervising the supervising teacher explained the work tools and service programs used in implementing the supervising teacher.
Peran supervisi diperlukan untuk perbaikan, peningkatan serta memberdayakan guru pembimbing supaya bisa dan mampu mengembangkan kompetensinya, sehingga mampu bekerja dengan kinerja yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperolah informasi yang berkaitan dengan: 1. Peran supervisi untuk membantu meningkatkan kinerja guru pembimbing pada SMP Negeri L. Sidoharjo; 2. Hambatan yang guru pembimbing dalam pelaksanaan supervisi dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru pembimbing. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi, subjek penelitian tersebut adalah guru pembimbing. Hasil penelitian tersebut yaitu: 1. Peran supervisi yang dilaksanakan kurang dirasakan oleh guru pembimbing dalam membantu  meningkatkan kinerja guru pembimbing di sekolah tersebut. 2. Hambatan yang dialami guru pembimbing saat pelaksanaan supervisi adalah pelaksanaan supervisi dilaksanakan oleh supervisor yang tidak berlatar belakang bimbingan konseling, sehingga saat pelaksanaan supervisi guru pembimbinglah yang menjelaskan perangkat kerja dan program layanan yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan guru pembimbing.
