This study examines the economic transformation experienced by the Malay community of Palembang following the end of the Dutch colonial era. Utilizing a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, the study investigates changes in economic structures, livelihood patterns, and the economic adaptation of the Malay community in Palembang from the colonial period onward. Data were obtained through literature review of both primary and secondary sources, including historical documents, government reports, and previous academic studies. The findings indicate that the Malay community in Palembang underwent significant economic transformation in the postcolonial period. These changes involved a transition from a traditional economy based on agriculture and river trade to a more complex and diversified economic structure. Factors influencing this transformation include Indonesian government economic policies, infrastructure modernization, changes in the education system, and integration with the national economy. The Malay community of Palembang has demonstrated a high level of adaptability by maintaining traditional cultural values while adopting modern economic practices.
